RANT fiddle quartet 4pm, Sunday September 10th 2023 - Partickhill Bowling & Community Club

A decade on from their first performance - and with 3 acclaimed albums under their belt - RANT remain at the forefront of the Scottish fiddle scene. The meeting of four of the country’s finest players, the quartet use just their fiddles to weave a tapestry of melodies, textures, layers and sounds.

Bethany Reid from Shetland, Anna Massie and Lauren MacColl from the Highland peninsula of the Black Isle, and latest member Gillian Frame from Arran join forces to showcase the combined resonance of their instruments with repertoire unearthed from both old collections and their own contemporary writing. RANT create a sound which is both spacious and lush, yet retaining all the earthy bite and spark synonymous with a Scottish fiddle player..

Blair Coron: Cairn 4pm, Sunday October 15th 2023 - Partickhill Bowling & Community Club

Join fife born musician, composer and poet, Blair Coron, for an exploration of Scottish Heritage through sight and sound. This performance will begin with a live performance of Blair’s own compositions, followed by a showing of ‘Cairn,’ a film created in collaboration with the School of Scottish Studies Archives and National Trust for Scotland and a Q&A session about the film.

Cairn is a celebration of Scottish heritage, a thank you to all it has given so far, containing new music set to archival interviews of those living in the Highlands and Islands during the early 20th century discussing local legends, childhood reminiscences and traditions long forgotten.

Described as “Truly remarkable” and "mesmerising, moving, and beautiful," this homage to Scottish Heritage is not one to be missed. 


‘Wessex Songs’: A celebration of Thomas Hardy in music  4pm, Sunday November 26th 2023 - Partickhill Bowling & Community Club

Join mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean and guitarist James Girling for a programme celebrating 19th/20th century novelist and poet, Thomas Hardy. The music spans 1923-2023: a century of songs from the reimagined and unearthed to the brand new. 

Lotte and James will be exploring Hardy through new settings of his beautiful poetry by composers Arthur Keegan (the project’s artistic producer) and Kerry Andrew. Arthur has also newly arranged onto guitar extant settings of Hardy by Finzi, Britten, Imogen Holst and Ivor Gurney among others. Alongside these works will be a selection of traditional English folk and renaissance songs. Following their concert at Music at the Green, Lotte, James and Arthur will be spending a week recording these works with the renowned Ligeti Quartet for one of the UK's foremost independent music labels, Delphian records.

Catriona Mckay & Chris Stout 4pm, Sunday December 10th 2023 - Partickhill Bowling & Community Club

In December, we’re delighted to be having Catriona McKay and Chris Stout back at Partickhill! Winners of the BBC Radio 2’s 2018 Folk Awards, 'Best Duo' Catriona & Chris have their roots in Scottish traditional music and have toured the globe with their own compositions. Since they’re performance here last November, the duo have performed in several countries making their way from the Shetland tall ship races to the Sydney Opera House! Catriona and Chris are always in high demand, so please consider booking your tickets early for this concert to avoid disappointment.

Soaring: Juliette Lemoine 4pm, Sunday February 11th 2024 - Partickhill Bowling & Community Club

Trailblazing a path as a cello soloist, Juliette Lemoine is exploring and redefining the cello’s role within Scottish Traditional Music. She has burst onto the scene with her debut album ‘Soaring’.

Her emotive compositions weave through Scottish Traditional, Western Classical, and Jazz genres to create a highly personal new voice. Leading an all-star band of some of Scotland’s most exciting young musicians -  including Scottish Album of the Year award winner, Fergus McCreadie - in the unique line-up of cello, fiddle, piano, and tenor saxophone, this will be a euphoric celebration of the theme of freedom.

Sophie Rocks 21st Century Harp

4pm, Sunday April 21st2024 - Partickhill Bowling & Community Club

To finish the season, Music At The Green founder Sophie Rocks will be performing a brand new programme of contemporary works on the harp. Originally hailing from the Shetland Islands, Sophie will be drawing influence from her traditional roots but alsofrom her passion for contemporary music, which ranges anywhere from Berio to Bowie. For this performance, Sophie will be joined by award winning accordionist Neil Sutcliffe who will be bring his own contemporary twist to this concert.
