Scottish Harpist

“You can’t fail with this much musicality and personalityUnited Kingdom Harp Association

Sophie is an award-winning harpist based in Glasgow, originally hailing from the Shetland Islands. She draws influence from her traditional roots while harbouring a passion for contemporary music, spanning everything from iconic film soundtracks to 21st-century hits. Whether performing in castles or concert halls, garden ceremonies or yoga studios, Sophie’s mission remains the same: to showcase the harp in every genre and make world-class music accessible to all.

A distinguished graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, Sophie’s career has taken her across the globe. Highlights include solo features on BBC Radio 3, being named a United Kingdom Harp Association Emerging Artist, and performing at renowned venues such as The Usher Hall and the National Galleries of Scotland. Her critically acclaimed show, Notes from Shetland to Shanghai, has toured globally from the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity in Canada to the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival.

Beyond the concert hall, Sophie has vast experience in community music. Since 2020, as a Live Music Now Scotland artist, she has developed a deep specialism in working with children with additional support needs and the elderly living with dementia. This dedication to local impact is further seen in her role as the founder of the concert series Music At The Green in Glasgow’s West End. Over the past four years, the series has hosted over 50 performances, showcasing local talent and providing sustainable, high-quality music in the heart of the community.

For those celebrating life’s most significant milestones, Sophie brings this same level of creativity and professionalism to the world of weddings and events. With over 750 performances and a vast repertoire of 500+ songs, she specialises in crafting bespoke soundtracks—whether that means a delicate video game melody for you to walk down the aisle to or a surprising heavy metal twist for your drinks reception. Recently recognised at the Confetti Awards 2026 as one of Scotland’s "Best Ceremony Entertainers", Sophie is known for her collaborative and engaging approach, ensuring every note reflects the personal style of her clients and delights guests with her signature ‘Harpaoke’ drinks receptions (recent requests have included everything from Dr. Dre and My Chemical Romance to EDM!).

In keeping with her commitment to local communities, Sophie prioritises sustainability in all her work. By focusing her performances within a 50-mile radius of Glasgow and offsetting all travel emissions through the World Land Trust, she ensures that every performance contributes to a greener planet.

Whether through her solo recordings—such as her 2025 debut EP, This Illusionment, celebrated as a "striking debut"—or her innovative work with The Willow Trio, Sophie continues to redefine the 21st-century possibilities of the harp. From international festivals to community hubs, she remains dedicated to creating meaningful musical experiences for each and every person she plays for.
